Penny Paul

 

Penny Paul is one of British Columbia's very experienced lawyers concentrating in family law including divorces and division of property and child custody, child support, spousal support and common law spouses. She has practiced in this area for over 20 years.

Ms. Paul also has a secondary but highly successful practice in the area of wills and estates, in both the litigation (wills variation) and solicitors (wills and estates) areas.

Ms. Paul has published on topics relating to BC divorce. She has been a guest speaker in continuing education for lawyers on advanced family law topics. Most recently she spoke on the topic of common law spouse property claims.

Ms. Paul has earned a reputation as a tough, but personable lawyer. Her client's are very loyal to her. She has a knack of getting the issues resolved in the most painless, efficient manner and only resorting to court if necessary to advance her client's claims.

Ms. Paul has a special interest in the division of assets for medium to high net worth clients, particularly those with business interests. She has a good grasp of corporate and taxation matters and was on the Dean's Honor List in the Accounting concentration in the Faculty of Commerce at U.B.C. Maximizing a claim or minimizing the damage from a spouse's claim in a complex asset case needs a lawyer who understands and is good at the numbers.

Ms. Paul is a qualified Family Law Mediator and is also qualified in the Collaborative (no court) Divorce process.

Ms. Paul received her law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1982 and was called to the bar of British Columbia in 1983. She has been in private practice since 1983.
